Remember Mother’s Day! (you’re welcome)
It is finally Spring in the Southern Tier and we are shouting it from the rooftops! Dr. Leuci has been spotted wearing bright colors more often and the pavement outside the office is a lovely, smooth shade of gray (not covered in salt and white like we’ve been used to).
Don’t forget to call your mom on Sunday, May 10th to wish her a Happy Mother’s Day. She will appreciate it! And if you are thinking of becoming a mother… or becoming a mother again… read below for how to decide how big your family should be!
“How many kids do you want?”
If you have a uterus, you have probably been asked that question at some point in your life. And it is certainly not an easy one to answer… whether you have children already or not.
We found this “quiz” that makes light of the age-old question. (disclaimer: the site that published the quiz “is intended for people who have a sense of humor, an appreciation for sarcasm”)
In our experience, if you come from a “big” family (which is technically 3 or more siblings), you are more likely to have a big family of your own. Fun fact: Annie is the only one who works in the office and is not from a “big” family. Dr. Leuci, Monica, and Kate all have 3 in their family, followed by Shaz with 5, Kathy with 6, and Irina with 7!!!
Do you think you are the patient with the biggest family?! If so, go to our facebook page and give yourself a shout out!
Grilled Salmon with Avocado Salsa
Now that the weather is getting warmer, it is time to GRILL (which means quicker dinners with less clean up… yay!) and even if you can’t grill outside, this works on a portable grill or grill pan on the stovetop, too!
- 2 lbs salmon, cut into 4 pieces
- 1 tbs olive oil (I used light extra virgin olive oil)
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp ancho chili powder
- 1 tsp black pepper
- for the Avocado salsa:
- 1 avocado, sliced
- ½ small red onion, sliced
- Juice from 2 limes
- 1-2 tbs finely chopped cilantro (depending on how big of a cilantro lover you are)
- Salt to taste
Mix the spices together, rub the salmon fillets with olive oil and this mix then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
Combine the remaining ingredients in a bowl and mix well, chill until ready to use.
Grill the salmon, it takes about 5 minutes.
Top with avocado salsa and enjoy!
Until Next Month…
